Understanding how to effectively support students with disabilities is a vital responsibility for every educator and school professional. Supporting Students with Disabilities is a foundational online course that equips participants with essential knowledge and skills to ensure students with disabilities receive the services, accommodations, and educational experiences they deserve.
Learning Objectives:
✅ This course begins with an overview of the key federal laws that protect the rights of students with disabilities, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
✅ Participants will then develop the skills to read and interpret an Individualized Education Program (IEP), gaining insight into how goals, services, and accommodations are documented and implemented.
✅ Finally, the course guides participants through the process of writing meaningful, legally compliant IEPs that are both ambitious and appropriate for each student’s unique needs.
Designed for both general and special educators, this course provides practical tools and a strong legal foundation to confidently advocate for and support students with disabilities in any educational setting.
